Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

I am sooo thankful for my sister this week.  Giving that we live 8 hours away from each other, we are only able to see each other 3-4 times a year.
So, obviously I miss her terribly.  We try to talk once every two weeks but it sometimes just doesn't happen.
It was to my pleasant surprise today to get a package in the mail from her.
My sister and I have always had our weird quirks:  Calling each other "Paco", turning every trip to the grocery store into a pirate hunt (driver is the captain, co-pilot is the first mate), and forcing me to give her a piggy back ride up the flights of stairs every Wednesday night before church. Our relationship is just so special and dear to me.
But for the past few years, we've had many adventures as pirates.  My 18th and 20th birthdays were pirate themed.  She made me a legit pirate hunt this past year containing pirate maps, clues in glass bottles, pirate chests, and best of all, she navigated me around the course of the map in a wheel barrel.. eh, I mean a pirate ship ;) .  Over the Holiday season we found wooden carving of pirates that fight our personalities.  We bought them.  And I carry mine in my purse everywhere I go.
But after this super stressful week.  I am just completely blessed to have such a loving family.  My parents came to visit and took me out to dinner.  My mother mailed me a valentines package. And my sister mailed me this SUPER awesome  pirate flag.  Now my apartment walls officially pledge my loyalty to the pirate gang my sister and I have formed.   And by gang, I mean just the two of us. lol

Thankful Thursday

I find that usually that the state of cleanliness of my room is a reflection of my life.  If my room is clean and organized, my life is following a schedule and accomplishing things.  Where if it looks like a dang tornado and it's five children had a dance party in my room, then I'm usually crazy busy and a bit stressed out.  This week it's been well a new kinda unorganized.
Stephanie and I are SOO excited to start creating things that are memorable and will help define our style (and hopefully will be sellable in the future).  We've both been working on projects for school and projects that we can squirrel away and learn from.  As a result, it looks like pinterest packed up and moved to occupy the small space that is my bedroom.  In a way, I love it.  It's so inspiring and free.  But I am in desperate need for some reorganization.  I'm planning on doing just that tomorrow when the weekend is here. Oh, the crazy party lifestyle of a college-aged woman.
But anyways, I didn't do my thankful thursday, and I know this is an hour late to still make it.  But I am so thankful for the inspiration I've been given lately.  And the energizing environment it has created for me.  But I am also sooo thankful that I will have time this weekend to organize it so it will be productive.

Thankful Thursday

I am currently obsessed with candles.  We never had them in our home while growing up because my father is paranoid of burnin' down the whole dang house.  Because of this, I never really understood why people had candles. They just didn't seem to serve a huge purpose to me.  I mean if the power is working, why light them?
When I moved into my apartment this year with three random roommates, I was baffled at how many candles we have (seriously, they're everywhere).  And didn't start lighting them myself until this semester.
You see, my roommate's and I got a new roommate at the beginning of this year.  With her came: her (apparently) live in boyfriend and her 7 month old pit bull puppy.  And trust me, the puppy didn't forget to pack his stink and move it in.  Needless you say, our apartment smells strongly of dog.
So when my mother came to visit me last weekend.  We went shopping for supplies for my studio courses and made sure that we stopped by Bath and Body Works and picked up some candles.
